One competition down, four to go! We will take some time to further polish the show and add the true ending this week to have a fully complete package for the Colgan Classic this weekend! We also welcome the future of the Marching Bruin Band as we host 8th graders for our annual 8th Grade Night!
Monday 9/18 – Performance review and sectionals (at discretion of student leadership) until 4:00
Tuesday 9/19 – Rehearsal 5:00-7:30
Wednesday 9/20 – Rehearsal 2:30-5:00
Thursday 9/21 – Rehearsal 5:00-7:30
Friday 9/22 – Home football game vs. Potomac High School 8TH GRADE NIGHT!!!
- All students should stay after school to help prepare for 8th Grade Night
- 4:15 – Registration opens for 8th grade students
- 4:30 – Begin rehearsal with the 8th grade students
- 5:15 – Dinner provided by the Bruin Band Boosters
- 5:45 – MBB gets dressed into uniform
- 6:10 – Uniform inspection
- 6:20 – Warm up in drivers ed lot
- 6:40 – March into stadium
- 7:00 – Game starts
- 8:00* – Halftime
- 9:00* – Game ends
*These times are approximate and will depend on how quickly the game clock runs out during the game.
Saturday 9/23 – Marching Band Competition: Colgan Classic at Colgan High School
- 7:30 – Students report and begin setting up in stadium
- 7:45 – Beginning of morning rehearsal
- 9:00 – Conclusion of morning rehearsal – begin loading trailer and getting dressed into uniform
- 10:00 – Load buses and roll call
- 10:15 – Buses depart FPHS
- 10:35 – Buses arrive at Colgan High School – students use bathroom and meet up with equipment trailer to prepare for warm up
- 11:30 – Move to warm up
- 11:40 – Warm up begins
- 12:10 – On deck
- 12:30 – “Nightmares and Daydreams”
- 12:40 – Return to trailer and load equipment
- 1:00 – Return to buses to change out of uniform
- 1:20 – Return to stadium to see the rest of the competition
- 2:00 – Class A and AA awards
- 5:00 – Special performance by the Marching Virginians from Virginia Tech
- 5:15 – Return to buses and depart Colgan HS
- 5:35 – Return to FPHS, students unload bus and trailer, clean band room, and are dismissed
