Hello Bruin Bands!
I wanted to take an opportunity to give a brief update on all the goings on with the Forest Park Bands since we have come back from winter break.
First, a HUGE congratulations to all the students who participated in this year’s All County Honor Bands. Whether you auditioned and earned a spot in the Honor Band, or were chosen for the Director’s Select Band, we are all very proud of the work put into the success of the event last weekend!
Second, we have begun evening rehearsals for Wind Ensemble (Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00). Our first rehearsal last night was a huge success, and I am looking forward to bringing in guest artists/clinicians to help the band as we prepare for concert assessment in March.
Third, the Forest Park Bruin Bands are very honored to have been selected as an event partner for the Atlantic Indoor Association’s 2023 competitive season. The Forest Park Indoor Classic returns to FPHS on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 and will feature over 40 performing units! Groups to watch out for include the return of the Forest Park Winter Guard, the 2023 debut of the Woodbridge Indoor Drumline, and the 2023 debut of the James Madison University Nuance Winterguard.
We need many volunteers to make the event run smoothly and are asking for anyone who is able to help to sign up using the link found on the page “Forest Park Indoor Classic” above. Any time you are able to volunteer would be greatly appreciated!
Finally, the Forest Park Jazz Band will begin meeting on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:30 starting next week! All who are interested are welcome to attend the first meeting (more of an interest/information session) and learn more about the group.
