NYC 2019

On this trip, the members of the Forest Park High School Bands and Orchestras will be afforded the opportunity to perform on a national level and learn from highly skilled music professionals. Students will demonstrate their learned instrumental technique and perform all of their curricular skills as rehearsed in the classroom. The event culminates with a national music competition in New York City. Participation in this trip will benefit the entire group and each individual. It will strengthen their skills and knowledge in every area of the Music Curriculum, at the Artist Level.

Tour Company: WorldStrides OnStage Programs, Charlottesville, VA

Tour Costs: Package includes the following:

    • All transportation expenses
    • Two nights lodging
    • Performance at National Music Festival with acclaimed adjudicators
    • On-stage mini clinic following the performance
    • Admission to all of the great activities listed in the itinerary
    • All Meals Included
  • Estimated cost per student – $775.00

*PLEASE NOTE: This cost is an estimate. The final amount will be determined after the itinerary is finalized. Spending money will be required for shopping or souvenirs only.


Payment Schedule:
Return of Commitment Letter and non-refundable deposit of $250.00: October 3, 2018
Second Payment of $275.00: November 14, 2018
Third and Final Payment of $250.00: December 12, 2018

*Refunds are not possible after November 15, 2018. Deposit is completely non-refundable.

It will be a valuable experience and a more effective learning tool if the musical ensemble is complete. No one should be discouraged due to financial reasons. Any problems should be discussed with your child’s music director, who will treat all financial matters confidentially. Fundraising efforts are strongly encouraged.

TRIP INSURANCE: Be aware that the PWCS School Board may cancel the trip if they feel the national terror alert warrants extreme caution, or for any other reason. The Band and Orchestra Boosters will make every effort to return any money that can be returned. To insure your entire amount, you may wish to purchase trip insurance from a vendor of your choice.  www.accessamerica.com is one choice.

The following forms must be read and signed by all participating students PRIOR to departure for the trip. This form must be turned in when payment is made. Each student must sign the document to indicate that he or she accepts the responsibility for good behavior on the trip. Parents or Guardians of the students are also required to sign the statement as an indication of their willingness to release the student to the care of the teachers and chaperones.

Any student who takes medication of ANY kind (including Tylonel/Advil/etc…) will need to complete the following medicine administration form. It must be completed by a parent AND PHYSICIAN no later than 72 hours before the trip. These forms will be turned into Nurse Gonzales at FPHS. You can find the form HERE.



Early AM – Eat breakfast at home and pack a lunch and snacks for the trip. Arrive at FPHS, load buses, depart for New York City! We will only be stopping at rest areas for bathroom breaks.

Early Afternoon – Arrive in NYC! Attend Carnegie Hall Tour

Carnegie Hall’s friendly and knowledgeable tour guides share more than 125 years of Carnegie Hall history, walking guests through the landmark building.

Afternoon/Evening – Transfer to Times Square. Dinner in Times Square ($25.00 budget, included in trip cost), then a Broadway Show! (TBA – show schedules for Spring 2019 have not yet been released.)

After the show, we board our coach buses and check in to our hotel.

AM: 9/11 Memorial Museum

The 9/11 Memorial Museum serves as the country’s principal institution concerned with exploring the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring 9/11’s continuing significance.

Lunch on own in the city ($15.00 budget, included in trip cost)

PM: Top of the Rock

With sweeping, unobstructed views of both Central Park and Manhattan’s midtown and downtown skyscrapers, the view from Top of the Rock is truly one of a kind.

Festival Performances at The Riverside Church

Awards Ceremony and Dinner on the Circle Line Cruise

Students and chaperones board a Circle Line cruise ship for the WorldStrides OnStage Program Awards Ceremony and dinner. The cruise ship will sail right past the Statue of Liberty and provide plenty of photo opportunities with the NYC Skyline as a backdrop!

After the awards ceremony, board buses and return to hotel.

AM: American Museum of Natural History, lunch at museum ($15.00 budget, included in trip cost)

Early PM: Load buses to depart for Virginia
